Anyone know the definitive law on whether tinted visors are allowed? I've heard that they are, so long as you have a clear one with you, but I've also heard that they are illegal, full stop.

I just bought a Schuberth C2. I got sick of carrying extra clear visors and messing about changing visors. The dark visor on my old lid was definitely more tinted than allowed by law and I didn't want to give some anal plod an excuse to give me a hard time.

The new lid ticked all the boxes:

Internal sun visor
flip (my first)
very quiet
removable lining (partial)

I've heard of some Schuberth helmets shattering at the point where the insert enters the shell, don't want to put you off.

Well if I ever have a serious accident and that happens I'll let you know.

Got an internal sun visor on my Caberg V2 as well, brilliant.

I have a legally tinted visor (light smoke) with a tinted fog city insert. I get the same result as a fully tinted visor

I believe this is legal because the insert is on the inside and is not classed 'eye protection'.

The flip downs are coming down in price now - seen them below 100 quid

At the time I remember being anoyed that RoSPA were classed as a road safety org, while the IAM were seen as a motoring org.

essentially they went with the minority view of the safety nazis

I have a Caberg justissimo. I bought it because I wear glasses, the flip up front makes it a lot easier to get the lid on, and because it has a dark flip down visor inside the helmet.
