As a Driver Assessor on the night shift we annually test our drivers standards - or lack of and this year because the day shift drivers have been having silly bumps & scrapes I now have to ask the night shift drivers (who only trunk to our own other depots) to perform a "Blind Side reverse" onto the bay.

You can imagine the whinging this rightly causes so I thought that I'd best "give it a shot" Although this isn't at night and I deliberately opt to do "Blind Sides" cuz I'm bored and like to keep my hand in I was quite pleased at the result.

That looked pretty accurate.

However you were using the mirrors a lot and that orange/red container looked pretty close. How much light does the lorry output for a driver to see such things, 'that accurately'.
I know when I've reversed horseboxes in very dark conditions, I've often put my big torch on something - like a fence post and pointing to where the 'rig' is going to help me see...
If fact why we don't have more light pointing backwards to help these situations I don't know.

If I was the Boss I think I might be looking into such things. As well as a sensor to tell you (of all the sensors!) that you were close to the docking bay to save you bumping into it! :) Albeit a gentle one! :D
