My condolences added to the ever-growing pile. I'm so sorry, I really had no idea of the seriousness of the problems. deepest sympathies to Claire and all Paul's family.

The campaign, however, must continue. Onward and upward, everyone!

Very sad news, I too am very shocked to hear this. I wish I had gotten to know Paul better - a true fighter whom I had ultimate respect for. The world needs more people like him.

My deepest sympathies and condolences to Claire and the rest of Paul's family. My support for the book and campaign will continue.

Stunned is the only word I can find as well.

Deepest sympathies to all those touched by the loss of a great mind and a caring man.
He has made a very positive mark upon our modern culture by propagating his ideas through this forum, and his tireless pursuit of a genuine injustice.

This is unbelievable.

I can only offer my deepest sympathies to Pauls loved ones at this difficult time.

You will be badly missed mate, but rest easy, you did beat them, you have beaten them and the rest of us will ensure what you started goes all the way to its final victorious conclusion, how ever long it takes.

Paul Smith, a warrior of truth.

I may not have agreed with every single thing that Paul stood for, but I largely shared the same views as this campaigner for common sense, and have been greatly saddened by this news. I have great respect for Paul taking a stand, and my condolences go to his family and friends.

One thing's for sure, the campaign will continue, and like Paul, we will continue to not lie down and accept bad decisions from government. Paul's name will live on.

OMG

This is unbelievable news. I met Paul only the once a few years ago. He changed my thinking on a number of fronts. I didn't always agree with him but he did turn conventional thinking on its head.

What a sad, sad day. My sincere condolences to Claire and family.

I still feel numb and gutted about this news.

I have already posted my condolences.

I think Paul gave a voice and a framework of thought to very many people who felt a growing disquiet about the way road safety policy was going in this country but previously had found it difficult to challenge the official orthodoxy. As in so many other fields, the government isn't necessarily right, but so often it takes someone with Paul's courage and determination to expose this.
