Any chance on your next trip, you can find the nearest 56mph speed limited truck, set your cruise control to follow that, and post the MPG? I suspect it may be a little higher than 55.

I won't use the cruise to follow a vehicle but I'll try at 56 and let you know

Damned impressive figures if the computer is accurate! I struggle to get 40MPG at a constant 70 out of a Peugeot 807!

Also, (and this isn't what I WANT to believe!) the 807 just uses less fuel the slower I go. It uses less at a constant 70 than at a constant 80, less again at a constant 60, and 50, and 40... I haven't really found anywhere safe to maintain a constant 30 for a significant amount of time but it seems even more economical in crawling traffic that's doing 20-ish!

I'm completely baffled by the suggestion that one might use more fuel driving up and down a hill at 50 rather than 70 though. I'd be very curious to see the calculations! It seems somewhat counter-intuitive!
