I think you're right. Just checked the IAM site for a list of non-UK IAM groups, and it's just the VIC and TAS groups there.

what's this IAM driving test about? :P I'm from Oz and never heard about it... :D

It stands for Institute of Advanced Motorists. It's an advanced driving test, though not in any sort of official sense. Some insurers give a discount for passing IAM though.

As far as I know, no other country has anything like the IAM. And we wonder why we have the safest roads in the world.

The simple answer is that we've got the best safe driving culture - the IAM is part of that culture.

we seems to have a conspiracy here with the government not wanting us citizens to become too good a driver, therefore you won't find many good drivers here... lol

Ah, not being an IAM member I may have mispoken. I know you are and would know better than me. For clarity do you know what the "non-UK IAM groups" bit is about then? Are we talking about ex-pats who've set up a local group to promote safety but don't have anything like the test? Or what?

We've got a similar conspiracy - they want the roads to become safer without drivers getting better, and by taking the important decisions out of their hands.

your mentioning of the safest roads and driving culture in the world, hope that you can maintain it and get rid of the cameras ASAP, here in OZ, they're completely offtrack with road safety, and too full of greedy bastards too busy raising revenue!

I'm not an IAM member actually. I've never taken any sort of advanced driving test. But I did take a load of training - I'm just not very test orientated.

There are overseas IAM groups - but they are still outposts of 'our' IAM (AFAIK).
