Travelling south down the A90 from Aberdeen a few weeks ago there were some roadworks (with lower speed limit) around where some fixed Gatsos are placed. Interestingly, the Gatsos had orange covers over them with 'not in use' marked on them. I assume this was so there wouldnt be ambiguity over the speed the camera was set at or if it was operational.

I reckon they should make more use of those covers, and leave them on for longer. . Possibly even make ones for every camera.

They had these on the gatsos on the M6 roadworks around J34-35 last year - when the roadworks weren't at that particular spot, or they weren't working (I think this happened at weekends, although can't quite remember), they'd cover up the cameras. Unfortunately, people still panic braked in front of them, as a result of seeing the lines on the road.
