take a look at this, this is just madness!

Best to right click and save target.

Though he probably committed thousands of speed related offences in a 10 min journey, he didn’t die or get injured nor did any other road user.

Was he lucky or is speed not the big issue we all taught (brain washed) to think it is?

If a driver didn’t check their mirror and killed the biker by pulling into his path is that a speeding death or failure to take due care?

Also don’t understand the lingo, can anyone tell what his aim is to achieve, I think he’s going for some sort of point to point record?

Any idea how big the file is? It was taking ages (I'm on dial up), and I gave up after 9 megs or so. I'll have another go tomotrrow, but not if it's going to take a couple of hours.

I agree this is madness but I can't help but admire the skill of the rider!

I think his choice of race circuit should have been different but his control over the bike and his concentration and forward planning were excellent as he proved on several occasions when traffic ahead changed lanes.

There is no way this sort of behaviour can be condoned in such a busy built up area but the rider has undoubtedly got the skill and courage to mix it on the race track.

It reminds me of a high speed lap of the Paris Central Periphique some years ago on a motorcycle. Where did you find this?

i agree he definatly seems to be highly skilled rider, and has oviously done this sort of thing many times before and is still alive, so greater evidence that speed is not the greatest evil, but also think he shouldnt be doing this sort of thing on normal roads.

i got the link from one of the lotus forums i frequent.

its the elise forum

Thanks Garman. I do agree with your comments on the simplistic arguement we are constantly fed by the camera partnership regarding "speed kills". However, I feel this sort of material has more entertainment value for motor sport enthusiasts as oppose to it being used as evidence that "speed does not kill".

Thanks for providing me with the required link and I shall pay a visit as soon as possible.

could someone answer this question please

If a driver didn’t check their mirror and killed the biker by pulling into his path is that a speeding death or failure to take due care?

as im sure that the authoritys would automaticaly blame the rider and attribute a ksi to speed to help thier failing stats.

You have no idea. My poor old modem was huffing and wheezing like a chain smoker in a marathon, and needed a long lie down afterwards. Thanks for the offer, and I'll let you know in a day or two. I don't want to put you to any trouble for it, so I'll give it a bash downloading it in chunks first.

Ah the legendary Pascal on his ride around the periphique. Apparrantly its a kind of "unofficial time trial" in Paris, having said that every day commuters ride just as crazily.

FWIW Pascal was one of the best, highly skilled, very lucky and now dead. He died trying to beat the time he set here doing the same thing.

Now as a biker i personally cringe when I watch the video, yes I filter and yes I ride fast at times but that kind of fast filtering will nearly always end in tears.

I urge any one here who looks at that and is tempted to try to emulate it to remember he is dead and there is nothing romantic about dieing in a pool of snot in your helmet.

Patch. didnt know he was dead, very sad, but a lesson to us all. hope his actions didnt cost anyone else a life or injury, not that it detracts from the tragic loss of his life.

I hope by me posting the video, no one trys to emulate his ridding style.
thanks for the further information.

Ah now theres another question, if someone rides like a dick (as indeed he does) is it really a "trgic loss of life". He knew the risks he took, just like a GP racer. It was his choice therefore I don't get emotional.

The tragegy is the people who did not make the choice to witness his death

I would have thought both. Speeding on the part of the biker and driving without due care and attention on the part of a car driver.

I have to agree with that. My OH is an experienced biker with advanced riding skills and he couldn't believe how reckless that idiot was. I for one am not surprised he is dead and just hope that the only person he involved in his death was himself. Imagine how someone would have felt if they knocked him off his bike killing him. When people drive that recklessly the only thing they are thinking about is the adrenalin rush that they get from it and not about the other road users that they have a duty to.

The large upside of him being dead is that he can't do it again, and risk more people, e.g me!
