That is good reason to put the transponder of this notional system actually on the notification signs. That way, both visual and RF “devices of notification and location” (i.e. signs with tranponders) could be all immutably locked together, and a malfunction could be a defence, as a missing sign is today.
I'm not making any predictions here, because I don't know which way it'll run. But if you trace back a requirement to notify drivers of speed violations, this is where it leads.
