Motorbikes are far from invisible, a good looking lass/guy walks past you in the oposite direction, do you not see him/her? motorbikes are HUGE and far from invisible hehe. as for clothing, i wear dark clothes and an orange helmet. if somone cant see a motorbike i hate to think what happens to the kid who just fell into the road! as for lights, i dont have to worry about them thankfully, i have a grey import, in japan lights are on a constant dip beam, cant turn them off which is good =]

I make sure i can be seen on my bike using road positioning, and avoid tailgating (which is kinda hard when mr volvo doin 30 in a 60 is infront of me, I dont care if its got S.I.P.S it fooken dangerous!)

how many people here ride bikes? or do most drive cars??

Thanks for the reply *grins*

Take Care

Tom

Not only that, but I find that riders are usually among the most courteous of road users. I always try to make room for bikers to pass me safely, and generally get a sign of appreciation in return. Let's be honest, competing with them is stupid. Fast as my car is the bikes will win every day of the week and twice on Sundays, so if I can I might as well move over to the left a little and let 'em pass. Nine times out of ten I get a thank-you wave. We like bikers in this house.
The only bikers that annoy me are teenage Carl Fogarty wannabes on 50cc efforts made to look like something they ain't. Although they seem to be less concerned with riding in high-vis clothing or switching the headlight on, at least the high pitched screaming of a tiny engine getting a mericless thrashing let's you know they're coming. Luckily they seem to be a minority, and to be fair they're no more annoying than teenage Schumacher wannabes in cars. I still wish they'd grow up a bit though.
Apologies to admin/mods for going off topic.

hehe, good to hear *grins*. im a young rider and honestly im getting a bit ****ed off with how we are treated by the big wigs, i hear more and more laws comming out that make us younger riders uncapable of riding for pleasure with fear of having our liscence revoked for a year and have to re-do our tests etc. is it the same for car drivers??

All the best

Tom

just add my two penneth - I very much agree that an increased speed heightens the attention. Similarly, I much prefer driving on a motorway with no lights at night than one with loads of orange lights which are very easy on the eyes - the darkness seems to keep my concentration up (I guess it is a subconcious thing where you know you have to keep your eyes open and aware)

I have a fear of dark carriageways ever since i was going up one at 40mph with no rear light and switched indicators on a foot high monkeybike and 2am and in the wrong direction!, never been on a motorway, seems too easy and boring, much prefer A Roads =]

All the best
