Anyone know if they are internally 'softened' ?

Do you mean the posts that the camera is mounted on? I would expect that they are made out of the same gauge mild steel that the camera box is made from. They wouldn't need to me massivly strong the box would make them rigid enough. If you were unfortunate enough to hit on it a car they probably would but up much of a fight. Would make a mess of you no claims though...

Do you know, for one second of completely stupidity on my part, I thought you were referring to the 'posts' in this thread. I thought "BT isn't that bad is he?"

Judging from the fairly substantial bit of concrete they appear to be mounted in, I have my doubts.

Adam L wrote They have changed the rules on hedge cutting. Once upon a time us farmer types could cut at will (I quite like hedge cutting) to keep the place looking tidy. But hedge cutters are quite brutal machines and if you are a bird tying to rear your chicks, not very friendly. So no we can only cut hedges err, between September and the end of feb I think. Anyway, we can't do it when we want anymore.

This reads like something from the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. Now would'nt it be fun if the Council tell you to cut your hedge as it is getting in the way of their cash machine. You appeal pointing out that there are birds present and that they cannot tell you to do something which would be illegal nor can the Council carry out the work in default as they too will be commiting an illegal act. What fun!

 Well, I have a hard exterior but I'm soft inside :)

That's an interesting point Claire! However, another angle 'they' could argue for is that the more scameras there are then the more likely they will protect pedestrians from a car which runs onto the pavement.

So in fact the 'safety' camera is actually protecting us in two ways :bighand:

(yeah right)

Good job I'm not on their side eh? :D
