phone them and ask them, where in the country are you i will spend a few minutes searching for the councilor members, the police contact, the fire service contact and any other contact you wish

Thanks for your offer, but I do know my local contacts - I'm just at a bit of a loss as to why you are suggesting I talk to them

The above link gives the dimensions of speed cushions

A few years ago my daughter damaged the underside of her sports car going over a cushion at the correct speed

The local highways refused to pay for the damage so her husband and myself went out and measured the cushion

What we found was that this and many others were over the maximum allowed height, over 50% of those measured to be precise

The highways then paid for the damage, after being threated with a small claims summons.

A few weeks later many local cushions were dug up and re laid at the correct height.

If any local cushions are causing problems get the measurements checked against the above link

This is another case of local authorities ignoring the the rules and regulations laid down for the benefit of everyone

Remind you of anything???????

Lots of kerb to kerb humps in Kendal were found to be over height - I felt they were the wrong profile too, but the council were forced to address the issue of height.

What they did, was they added tarmac to the road in front of the humps, which meant the height was within limits as long as you didn't take the road level further away from the humps into account!

You may recall a thread in which a passenger on a bus sustained a serious injury in Dalton, South Lakeland, when even at a low speed, he was jolted in his seat, injuring his neck and back.
The K2K humps in Kendal are the same design!

Councils have an obligation to serve their community properly and appropriately. Whilst many try to do this, they listen to advisors, you have already stated tat you attend Council meetings CamOp and you are biased in one direction and myself in another, who when those Councils meet hear anything from the other side other than from all those MoP that take the time and trouble to call them and try to put across the IMHO the truth of the matter (re: SCAMs)?
They try to 'do something' becasue of the pressure from MoP and they select the PC route often for fear of getting it wrong and having to pay the consequences - in other words they don't know and time and cost usually prevents a proper and thorough understanding of the issues in a non-biased manner. So they follow the same route until someone above them suggests other-wise or until a few Councillors start to appreciate the true picture and question what they do, then they have real debates and start to consider properly what they ought to do. Sometimes these people are still in a minority and sometimes not.
Considering now the might of the Speed Camera Industry there is plenty of money, sales advisors, 'experts' to attend Court to safeguard their vested interests, and a gradual gathering of associated Companies to add to the fray of profits to go around, thus securing their ongoing profits as a collated group. (This is a little simplified for the purposes of not distracting this thread).

Ings is on my route to and from work.

I pass it six days a week excepting my holidays, and therefore have first hand knowledge of the site and it's history - not gleaned from looking at statistics on paper.

i imagine it has put a bit extra on your journey time then

Very early on a poster on the CSCP forums claimed that a "safety" camera van was hidden, so as to "ambush" passing motorists.
In response to SCs claim that none of the Cumbria vans was hidden, I quite light heartedly posted a picture of Ings in which the van could not be seen - at which point he claimed I had taken the picture on a day when the van was not there!

CSCP forum was before my time, i s that the photo taken from outside the village boundaries
