I'm not sure that, from observation, you can tell the difference between the three (now) identified modes of process (lizard, subconscious, conscious). I am gussing that, for most people, this is conscious rather than subconscious or lizard. It certainly is with me the (very infrequent) occasions when I come across one that I've not had a chance to check numerical speed long before arrival
