I quote:-

"Analysis of crashes that have occurred show that the majority of drivers are: -

- Aged 45
- Live in CH2 or CH3 areas
- Travel on A41 particularly between 8-9 am/1-2 pm/4-5 pm
- are not exceeding the speed limit (my highlight)
- are not driving under the influence of alcohol
"

So what happened to the one-third argument then ? I suppose somebody has realised they can only lie and lie for so long. Now most people realise all this camera sh*te is exactly that.

In my view having driven around the area, it is the sheer volume of traffic that is the cause of accidents because it creates far more opportunities for accidents assuming people are as alert now as they were a few years ago. I live in Crewe where a different pace of life applies, drivers are more courteous, and we all are the better for it. It comes down to good manners in the end.

Devils advocate  :

One third still allows enough left over to be "the majority".

Different pace of life in crewe? I've driven through there and thought there were a lot of mentalists! The roundabout where you turn to go to the railway station is a nightmare. Before the traffic lights you'd be hip and shouldered. Now the lights are there it is a race to see who can exit first sideways :) The 2 lanes into one as you go up towards the station usually leads to lots of horn blowing or blocking or pushing. I also saw a postie cycling with one hand on that roundabout as he was so busy chatting on his mobile...

I haven't noticed it being any less manic than Stoke for instance. Not that anyone would choose to drive anywhere near Stoke given half the chance!
