Just got an NIP (within 14 days ) Photo taken by mobile camera van parked on the opposite side of the road facing me. I thought he was monotoring vehicles travelling towards me. Is this normal practice. They say I was doing 37 in a 30 but I had just entered that road frim a side road and my speed was around 28 mph. The camera warning sign with the 3 of the 30 removed by vandals is 2 k along the road. Where do I stand.

Welcome.

I'm sure some of our members will offer assistance, but in the mean time head over to www.pepipoo.com and talk to the legal eagles.

Is isn't the norm but it is done. The legality of this is open to interpretation; it’s best to get yourself to PePiPoo for full details of that one.

I am guessing you were caught by an LTI2020 or Pro-laser. It’s possible you were the victim of an effect called ‘slip’ where the meter gives a false but seemingly valid speed-reading. What details have you been given (such as photos, calibration certificate...) ?

Not subsequently vandalised by you I hope :) (seriously, never consider doing anything like that)
Get clear photos of the signs ASAP. Log the issue with the police (or at least confirm that they knew the sign was vandalised); that will help your case should you decide to fight it.
