Does anyone know what the actual number of days that the police have to send an NIP (notice intended prosecution) before it becomes void?

It has to be posted (to arrive?) with the person named on the V5 document within 14 days of the (alleged) offence.

If you were the driver and are not named on the V5 then there is no time limit for the NIP, but I think they still have to lay papers with the court within 6 months.

What is the V5 document?

The V5 would be the "log book"
