Quick question. Are mobile cameras ( i.e those situated in the large white police vans. )always sited in the back of the van or can they be moved and pointed through the windscreen?
I passed a van on the opposite side of the road and think i was doing about 46mph in a 40mph zone.

if they are on overbridges then it is a side window, on a standard road from the rear, or i have seen them outside the van so i suppose then it is 360

Lidar must not be used through glass. Windows must be opened; through the windscreen is a :nono:

Nope.

By the look of it, it seems the OP was worried about speed enforcement: "i was doing about 46mph in a 40mph".

so it could have been a windscreen mounted ANPR camera these are quiet common, or a secondary camera for the scammers to capture motorbikes registration as they go past,

If you were indicating 46 then it's unlikely you were doing more than 44 so you'll be OK anyway. If they were using the laser unit through a glass window, then the type approval would have been invalid. Either way you're OK.
