As you've not had a response yet ...

The ACPO guidelines state that the limit for automated prosecution is 10% plus 2mph higher than the posted speed limit - so on a normal motorway, the limit for prosecution is 79mph (note, this means that you can get a notice of intended prosecution at 79mph, not that you can drive at 79mph and avoid the NIP). In addition, your speedo probably reads over the actual speed (so when it shows 80mph, you were probably actually doing around 75 or 76mph).

If you do get a NIP for the offence, you are advised to go to the pepipoo website for advice.

Or maybe there's nothing to worry about, your description of the van - "2 cameras in the top of back doors" - sounds more like an ANPR unit than a talivan.

Speeding is an absolute offence - in theory you can be prosecuted for being 1 mph over the posted limit.

Handy was quoting guideline for automated enforcement (eg Gatso)

Speedometers should always over-read (ie. if it says 70 you're doing 70 or less). They change over time, especially as your tyres wear down.

Laser speedmeters are perfectly accurate. At giving distance measurements. Speed measurements can be wrong if the operator sneezes. Or is, for example, sitting in a van (with suspension) on a large wobbly bridge with lorries rushing past...

However the description of a van with two cameras in the top windows sounds like ANPR to me.
