Is it legal - or enforceable - to have different limits applying in different directions on the same piece of dual carriageway?
I was in the south east over the weekend, and I happened to drive up and back down a short stretch of the A10. I used to live near there, and drove along this stretch of road at least twice a day, so I was surprised to see the new speed limit signs.
I can't embed this as a pciture, but here is a link:

At the junction with Lieutenant Ellis Way / Winston Churchill way, heading north, there are

terminal signs. Heading south, however, the speed limit is 40 north of the top of the linked map, and right at the top where you can just about see Farm Close, there are a pair of terminal

signs.
That makes it the best part of half a mile where the speed limit is higher heading south than it is heading north.
Before anyone comments, there were no cameras on that stretch, nor did my gps beep to say it was a mobile location, but then my database hasn't been updated for a few months so I suppose it's not out of the question!!
