Being as blind as a bat without them I always drive with My glasses on or contacts in. I also take breaks about every two hours and keep the car at a "coolish" temperature. If I feel my attention is wandering I find the nearest service area or lay by and stop to snooze and/or take a walk. I do know plenty of people who need glasses and won't wear them, those who never stop until they get to their destination, no matter how far and keep the temperature in the car quite high. Surely this is only common sense. Seemingly lacking in certain other drivers.

As a point of interest I find that travelling a good bit quicker than the average driver keeps my concentration sharp, travelling slower reduces it, adrenaline perhaps. Counter to this, travelling slower in highly populated urban environs with hoards of pedestians also concentrates my mind probably because of the fear of kids/old folk stepping into my path. Also eating a sandwich and drinking Coke instantly dissipates tiredness in most cases.
However there is no substitute for sleep.
