Hey all thanks for looking in advance . Basically its what i have already said . i have bin sent an nip for doing 35 in a 30 ,the stupid thing is that i was 10 yards away from being in a 40 zone. i was just wondering if theres any point try to get off it . I dont think it was a fixed camera either if that makes any difference.any ideas people. thanks

Well unless the signs have been placed in the wrong place in relation to the official documentation of the limit, I suppose there's no question of your guilt.

But seeing as magistrates are both humans and drivers, I'm sure if you take it to court, they'll see the stupidity of such obsessive enforcement of the law and blatant lack of discretion, considering there was practically nothing dangerous about accelerating early.

Interestingly while doing pass plus, I was encouraged to do 40 because a side road had a 30 mph sign when I was still doing 30 mph, and in previous driving lessons i'd missed 40 mph entry signs. Later down the road were two 40mph entry signs, with a speed camera enforcing the other side of the road, just after the limit was lowered to 30mph. Hmm! I'd drive down the road and check it out for anything like that.

This was somewhere between the M25 and Bromley, I wonder if all tickets issued by the speed camera are illegal as a result of ambiguity of signage.

Obtain a copy of the order for the speed limit on the road in question from the local authority highways dept. The speed limit is defined by the order, not the location of the terminal signs if they are located further along the road than they should be.

I understand that one will be surprised how many signs are actually in the wrong location.
