Tried Pepipoo yet? They're good on the legal stuff and have a forum to ask questions in.

There are no laws, only guidelines.

None.

A little under half a second if I remember correctly, if we are talking about the LTI20/20 (laser camera van).

The speed camera vans don't at the moment but ANPR can. The two may be combined at some time in the future.

If it does not meet the standards required for visibility, which I suspect would be the case, then yes. Not likely to come from a mobile camera but I wouldn't put it past them to take down your reg and have it chased up.

I thought that the road HAD to be signed before they could use mobile cameras? All our local sites are.

If you came round a corner to find one of these vans at, say, 20 mph over the limit, would it be a good idea to perform manic swerving, if safe, to make it harder to point the lazer at you?

No, it's only guidelines. If they do it repeatedly, the local scameraship's licence to print money might be taken away.

Never happened yet, never will

And even if they stick to the guidelines they only have to sign a road if it is targetted more than a certain number of days in a month.

But since they don't even bother to park legally.......
