hi there, kinda new to this but here goes
could somebody tell me if you were driving down a 40mph speed limit road doing 50mph and the traffic police were traveling down the road in the opposite direction, could they have calculated the drivers speed, then if the driver doing 50mph wasnt stopped, can they be convicted of speeding for that incident in the future, i.e do the police have to pull you over there and then.
thanks, any advice would be appreciated.

In a word, no.

They possibly _could_, but I very much doubt that they would.

Anyone else care to back me up?

No, it could be dealt with in the same way as speed camera prosecutions, i.e. a written NIP in the post within 14 days. But that would be very unusual.
