Anyone know how much it costs (us!) to erect a sign at a junction? There is a plethora of signs around many junctions now, whereas in the old days we relied quite happily on a couple of warning signs and one for directions. Estimating £1000 per sign I counted £25,000 worth at one T junction I passed, not counting the flashing speed signs, cameras, humps, chicanes etc. around the area. How many millions of our money are being spent to turn the roads into a deadly amusement arcade?

Hi!

I suspect it is quite a lot.
You could of course ask the council. Freedom of Information Act and all that. ;)

That reminds me....

They've put up a VAS at a crossroads near me. All roads are NSL and so they've put the sign, wait for it, about 50 yards from the junction (which you'd have to be blind not to see a car waiting at...)

I would suggest £500 - £1000 per sign for a fag pcket estimation. not for D/c's and m/wways though they'll be very expensive.

you certainly won't be underestimating at £1000.

Our DLO rate for erecting a 600mm sign on a standard post was around £400. Of course thus increases hugely if the sign has to be lit!
