A new radio ad reported on uk.rec.driving, although I haven't heard it myself:

Quote:
There's one which is probably on all of the radio stations owned by music radio. It's on Cambridge's Q103 at least.

It goes something like;

"Another day, another accident. I just can't stand having to queue... But at least I do my bit, I always stick to the speed limit".

There's another one which is similar, which says something about each accident costing the NHS £x amount, and then goes on to say "but at least I do my..........stick to the speed limit" as before.

Another one effectively implying that one should stick to the speed limit rather than drive within it, and that doing so is a guarantee of safety :evil:

Time for a saracastic radio ad style response. In the driving snow, I'm doing 40 in a 40. In the pouring rain I do 70 on the motorway. When there are kids playing next to the pavement I am doing 30. I'm doing my bit....I'm sticking to the speed limit..... cue sound of screeching brakes as the kid with the ball runs out and gets hit at 30 as driver was sooo busy looking at his/her speedo....

Or taking the opposite view: I ignore speed limits. I drive at a speed I can stop in the distance I can see to be clear. I'm doing 25 in the snow. I'm doing 55 in the pouring rain on the motorway. I'm doing 15 passed the kids playing by the road. Cue sound of driver stopping easily before kid gets flattened.

Tea Belly, you are a man after my own heart.
I do like both your advert suggestions, very strong messages in both, as for getting TPTB to produce them, no chance, they might save some lives and they can't have that can they.

Actually, thinking about it, how much does a radio ad slot cost? It can't be that expensive -- maybe a hundred quid for 20 seconds perhaps? Might be fun to see how difficult it would be to get one aired.
