Due to a bit of bad planning, I'm going to be finding myself arriving at Hollyhead on a ferry later this week, obviously I would like to get out of North Wales and back to the land of sane policing (ie. Gwent) with as little hassle as possible.

Can anyone recommend a route where it will be possible to actually keep an eye on the road rather than the speedo, or should I just buy a parking sensor and modify it to be active at all speeds? Also what is the Dyfed-Powys area like with regards to Brunstrom's influence?

Have you considered using the Stranraer ferry route?..............or Morecambe? :) Vote with your feet man! ..or at least, your tyres .... and your "petro" Pounds and spend them else where.

There wern't any suitable times, sadly I want to get home at a reasonable hour, so the blackpool and morecambe ferries are out, as is stranraer :o

Outbound I used Fishguard -> Rosslare, but given I'm working in NI, that's too risky a journey home as I could end up missing the ferry.

How about going to a car park and practising maintaining your speed whilst not having to stare at your speedo

Use Road Angel ... Origin .. or pogodrive doo-dah.

Beware of blokes behind hedges. They usually on straight bits near speed lolly change signs.

You need to use C O A S T .. with emphasis on C O A  bits of it. :P

PS ,, they love the A5 ... as Med Hughes discover once upon a Bank Holiday...

I have an Origin. I'm not worried about fixed cameras.

It's the (allegedly) poor signage coupled with the cameras hidden in horseboxes and wheelie bins that I'm scared of.
Not sure what route I'm going to take either, was going to let the satnav figure that out unless someone here suggested a "safe" route.

Update the origin. I have pogo version. It update .. incredibly accurately. I compare with b2 . They have similar data..............but the pogo havethe "EDGE" to me.

OK .. check their timetables/fixed sites.

These are clues.

Use C O A S T ..

Any visual sign of"feel/intuition" help.

Just be aware of any oddly placed bin or horse box or work van. USE COAST with brains fused on ALERT within.:

Fight with fire. und a smug "younevertakemealive" on FPN mode.

I try to helps Lum. stay cool. Do homework.,. PLAN route properly.. being as aware as possible as to dangers..

The trouble you'd have is that any route (but the ideal one) would be longer. It would take more time and perhaps lead you past more speed signs.

Well I'm home and I don't think I got a speeding ticket (didn't knowingly speed once). Now for the 14 days of stressing about that.

Brunstrom really is a twat though, isn't he? I noticed as I left the ferry terminal that during the completely unnecessary 50 limit at the terminal end of the A55, there is a SPECS installation, but it's only monitoring traffic heading towards the ferries, so basically if you get held up somewhere and are at risk of missing your holiday, Brunstrom will get you and you'll come home to a nice fine.
