Hi there,

Its pretty obvious to understand that UK speed cameras are placed in areas where they can attract the most revenue. However, as Im from North Wales, I try to kep my anger to myself as best I can,

However, a section of roadworks has been installed on the A55 towards Chester and the speed limit has consequently been reduced to 50mph. However,my main gripe is that not only has a revenue raising speed camera been installed, but it has been placed right on the end of a section of busy sliproad merging onto the A55. It is easy to see why this is damn right dangerous, as drivers merging on no longer look over their shoulder, but rather look at their speedos. The braking and general driving at this section of the 55 is terrible and dangerous. I almost feel ashamed to admit I now take a diversion at prime hours, simply because I fear for my own safety.

Will anyone out there listen? Or is revenue more important than safety?

I bet Brunstrom is grinning at this thread, knowing that his statistics and tax-raising plans are worth far more than human life. A sad reflection of Britian/Labour IMO. :(

Thoughts?....

I'm not from North Wales, nor am I there now, so I don't know to whom you should protest.

That said,

First of all, you have nothing to be ashamed about. You are in no way responsible for the policy which installs these cameras, nor for the especially poor placement of this one in particular.

(Um, could you show us, please? Perhaps with GoogleMaps?)

IMHO, your best bet would be to figure out how to obtain any photo or video evidence that lends weight to your above complaint regarding the degredation of driver behavior leading to increased danger.

Alternately, being armed with any statistics regarding driver behavior / incidents in said area would also be helpful.

Do NOT make any complaints prematurely. Don't just worry about the 'who' - or,more appropriately, the 'whos'. Worry more about the 'whats', 'hows', and 'whys'.
