Speeding drivers caughtPublished: 16 December, 2009
A TOTAL of 23 vehicles were caught speeding on Moray's roads during a three-day campaign last week.
The North East Safety Camera Partnership (NESCAMP), a partnership between Grampian Police and North-east councils, covered 11 locations in the district using four detection vehicles.
"Although the initiative resulted in the detection of 23 vehicles exceeding the speed limit, that is a relatively low number in relation to 39 and a half hours of enforcement," said a spokeswoman for NESCAMP.
Inspector Scott Mann, responsible for roads policing in Moray, said: "Although it is disappointing to detect even one offence, it is hugely positive for me that numbers are low, in particular given the substantial amount of enforcement time that was carried out.
"A large percentage of our serious and fatal collisions in Moray are caused by excessive or inappropriate speed, and the deterrent that NESCAMP provides will undoubtedly help us reduce casualties."
