It seems that there is a guy who travels around Shropshire and the Black Country, videoing drivers and posting them on You tube, if he thinks that their driving is poor.

Unfortunately for him, it appears that many people do not rate his driving to be that good, either! ..... ;-)

Now why does that not surprise me.

But, he's had a serious accident, seems to me that today you have a duty to be self-righteously critical about others on the road. Examine your own driving? Heaven forbid!

This bears investigation....
Quote:
“These two were racing each other up the dual carriageway. When we get to the next island, right at the last minute she pulls into my lane without looking, forcing me to brake sharply to avoid hitting the back of her car.”

So THEY were racing... yet she pulled into his lane, and he was forced to brake sharply to avoid hitting her car!
So either they were not racing so as to put distance between his car and hers... or HE was racing to keep up - making him as dangerous as them - if not more so since he has some attention focused on videoing the road ahead!

Can we see this video? :)

A "proper" heavy crash does give you knowledge that (luckily) most people will never possess.
I'm sure that anyone who has had a heavy collision would agree that it is more violent
than the heaviest imaginable hammer blow.

PS: I'd recommend that anyone who doubts this should drive a jalopy into a sea wall at a lowly
25 mph, to check it out! It's quite a surprise, actually. Then think of (say) 100mph combined speed.
It's a heavy number.

PS: you're right though. The complainant is a knob. I'd never go down the wrong road just because I was in
the wrong lane.

Hopefully someone will be along in a minute who remembers, but I'm sure we had someone on these fora a while back who was threatening to do just that! Was it "Mosis"???? He too was a self-righteous prig whose own driving (judging by his posts) was somewhat less-than-perfect! As far as he was concerned, I think "poor driving" meant "anyone driving faster than him".

The "in-joke" on the boards at the time was that he'd do it to an unmarked police car one day and get himself into trouble reporting them to the police!

Yes, Mole. You're correct. It was "Mosis".

The guy in question posting these vids is also a prolific poster of "bad driving" reports on Betterdrivingplease.com.

Yesterday I asked the question of the mods on BDP as to why there is no open discussion forum on their site, and this was the reply:

Certainly ! Thanks for your e-mail.

The reason is simple - our members have been physically threatened and
mentally abused
mainly by members of the numerous 'car forums' upon the internet.

If we open up a forum - members will be intimidated - and policing the forum
is also
beyond our time and resource without additional support.

I agree with you - but there are many out there who wish BDP to be closed
down.

Best wishes,

Andrew

BDP

Interesting.

Am I alone in saying that I actually (considering the number of miles I do) see surprisingly little TRULY bad driving? OK, I see sloppy driving, I see bits of inattention and all manner of minor misdemeanours (even seen the odd motorist exceeding the speed limit too, on occasions  ), but I see little BAD driving and I can't remember the last time I was tailgated or had any "road rage, as such" directed towards me!

I dunno, because I see a fair amount of dangerous driving. It's usually "excited" blokes in fast cars who are at it. I just don't get it - why get excited when you just are on a trip out in the car? Why go jockeying along for position in the lanes, driving too close and being pushy? What's it all about? Why do they act like little schoolboys?

I must agree with Mole, I too do a lot of miles and see a lot of "sloppy driving" like no indicators, lack of attention to mirrors, poor lane discipline, holding up traffic un neccessarily but don't see many cases of really dangerous driving but I suppose what causes accidents is the sloppy driving when another "sloppy" or in attentive driver comes into the picture. Most alert drivers can notice and compensate for poor drivers but when another poor driver meets, like for like, then something has to give ....lol

Our MX-5 was smacked into on Boxing night (in Oakengates town centre; you might know it graball), whilst parked up. Both Mrs M & I remarked the same thing. When driving, at least you have a fighting chance of spotting numpties and taking the necessary actions to avoid their driving f!ckwittery. But if one of them smacks into your car when it's parked, what can you do?

Yes, I know Oakengates quite well. I must admit out of all the times that I have been hit it's usually the case where I've been stationary or moving too slowly to take "avoiding action"

Maybe it was just me but how did that cause him a problem? It was poor driving by the avensis driver but he was far enough back (and should of left enough of a safety margin) that he wouldn't need a full emergency brake.

Though the filmer doesn't seem to subscribe to the "two second rule". In the first part of the film he is considerably less than one chevron behind the car in front. And if that was the worst driving I ever saw I would count myself a lucky man.
