I saw one today near where I live (Essex) on the a120 on a strech of road thats single carridgeway national limit.

There camera was faced a fixed direction and there was a police van there. My question is, will it only work in the direction of the side of the road its on or can it monitor both sides at once. The traffic wa smoving too slowly for it to be a problem and we could barely go above 50.

Also, do they always pull you up there and then when using mobile patrol units, and how long do they generally wait in one area?

Thanks

-Rob

As faras I am aware from reading PH etc . you have the 14 day nail bite.

As for the last question .. I find the published timetables and local radio tell me what I need to know  to be fair.

They still ping us regardless. We and our kids just gurn silly faces at them. They now know us and our cars. Dependent on the cam op . we either get a smile or a two fingered salute .. which amuses our children far more than ourselves

If there were police in presence too, I would think this was ANPR rather than scamera.

Was it a liveried or plain white van?

whats ANPR?

Was a van with stripes and colours I believe. red and yellow I seem to remember?

I didnt concentrate on it too much as it was on the opposite side of the road.

Dontr recall it being just plain white though.

Yes there was police presence too :-).

Automatic Number Plate Recognition.
It's a system that automatically reads the registration plate on your car and consults various databases to confirm that the car is insured for use and has a valid MOT, and to see if it has been flagged for any suspicious activity; it flags back any needed data to the patrol in real time so the driver can be pulled there and then if need be.
