The worlds Most Expensive & fastest Car - The Bugatti Veyron will be let loose on the streets later this year. Whether we will see them in the Uk remains to be seen. Its faster than a F1 Car at 250mph :) Cost- A cool £750,000  Engine-an 8 ltr 1001bhp 8-) Wow!!

Will the Police Be Able to keep Up?

If you haven't seen it look here -

Oh my god, what an incredible car.

Dear Santa
For christmas this year, I would like.........

As for keeping up, that would outrun a helicopter no problem, so we'll just sting it instead :D

I suspect on the mountain roads round your way a Scooby or similar could keep up with it without much difficulty.

At last! It's taken years, i remember reading about it many moons ago...

Have got to say though, what is the point of such a car? I know it's all about pushing technology as far as possible (which in 5-10 years time will filter down to the mainstream market), but is that much power not just silly?

I've always noticed that the drivers with particulary powerful cars tend to be the worst for observation, position etc. Having said that it does depend on the car. Specialist marques such as TVR, Noble etc tend to be good (as they nearly always have taken further training because of their love of driving). However, the 'money brigade' tend to be pretty cr*p, i.e the one's who have tvr money but spend it on M3, SL etc....

Not generalising or anything!!

Last I heard of the Veryon was on the last series of Top Gear when they were wondering if the thing would ever really be built. IIRC they expressed some doubts over whether anybody made a road going tyre that could cope  . Sounds like that's sorted now, but will they Jezza & Co. have a play in one after they took the pi$$?

I'm sure they'll get their mitts on one, then it will be seen if Mr Stig can break the enzo lap record. Personally I'd save my money and buy the atom :D 2nd fastest and £29,000 :!:
Can you imagine if they get the downforce wrong on this thing :!: you'll go airborne
Does anyone actually know who the Stig is :?:

Through the power of the net, I have now answered my own question. In the first series, it was some bloke called Perry, now its strongly believed to be this bloke www.bencollinsracing.co.uk/profile.htm

An Areil Atom would probably be cheaper than the insurance on the Veryon :) . Equally barking in different ways.

No idea who the current Stig is, but there was some thought that the original Stig was Alain Menu 'cos of a French accent being mentioned a couple of times, but I doubt there was any more to it than that (and yeah, I know he's not actually French).

I've just read all the specs peoperly now, this car is beserck!, if you sneeze on the M4 Severn crossing, when you look up you'll be in Basildon  I can't even imagine the cost of running it, but I suppose if you're thinking like that, you can't.
Still it's nice to dream :D

The first (black) Stig was Perry McCarthy,
The current (white) Stig is generally believed to be Ben Collins

Yes, but you tend to notice them more with all the flourescent paint and the blue lights on the roof. :P

Well, if you know of any other car that can do 250mph for less money.. :D

and while the owner may not be able to do 250mph on any public road (even Germany) i rather suspect that with the expected level of torque the acceleration will be enough to hit 200mph on certain roads without too much fuss.

1000 BHP is nothing when compared to the Ghostrider Hyabusa that is chucking 500 BHP at the back wheel and the whole package weighs in at under 400lbs (that's an effective power to weight ratio of well over 1000 BHP per tonne).

Nobody actually knows what the top speed is, but it has been clocked on a track using GPS at just over 280mph and still accelerating (hell, the owner has video footage of himself overtaking a Blackbird at 200mph on the back wheel in the pissing rain and disappearing out of camera view in under 4 seconds).

It's not that expensive either, you can have one just like it for £13,000 all in (now that is a cheap way of going incredibly fast).
