Already commented a year or more ago over the Redspeed Monitrons on the A580 - courtesy of brother and two sisters.
We had the saga of the A572 as being "sneaky".

Jazz has a photo on file. We showed the one which the MEN published as part of their coverage

It's hidden behind a large rectangular directions sign. We had a couple of photos as taken by both my sisters in March. Decided not to post up as this was ephemeral and we still do not know the story behind it ..

But the right hand traffic light at the right turn filter was leaning like the "Tower of Pisa" and skid marks as noted by both sisters suggested to them that driver had noted the "tell tale "gatso markings" on the road and slammed on the anchors and just maybe the driver "locked his wheels and went into spin"

Have hard copy of their photos .. will scan when I get a second or so later....
I've reported umpteen accidents on A580 to date.
At the traffic lights where this Redspeed/Monitron type's situated? Woman was killed as she crossed the road .. just as the lights changed. The lorry driver high in his cab simply did not see her as she was "behind the SMIDSY cab pillar"
'
Further down the "Lancs" as the locals of Swinton/Worsley call it ... based on visit to family down there last weekends or so.. girl died crossing at another set of lights. She had consumed cider ..but I honestly do not think this impaired her judgement based on the autopsy as reported. I think pure bad luck as she was hit by a lorry who swerved to avoid the decelerating car and was hit by the "ricochet". Lights here .. and I've sat and watched the traffic from one of my sister's home from home.. I think GMP have it right when they recommend a "puffin/toucan" here.
Lower down .. Redspeed cam and the site part of MP Keeley's call for a 30 mph????

The cam's supposed to .. err .. slow traffic.. err.. ummm?
They've been around a while. I deplore red light jumping by anyone though. I will still be fair to Drivesafe of Manchester all the same. Driven along the road and they do not appear to have "fiddled timings on those lights". They have plenty of warning signs which a COAST

driver would see anyway
But remedy and saviour of mankind out on our roads? Get real! They ain't and never will be as driver education/re-education which may or may not be concurrent with a fine dependent on the offence in the eyes of a professionally trained expert traffic police officer will always achieve a better and more lasting result.
