OK.. cut to the chaff as your idiom.. so we hit the M6 south to call in on Ted's sisters with presents und dann to pick up my own
parents und two of our NEW bosom pals from Tucson environs from airport before heading up to North East to join up with Krissi und Mike (my big sister und her husband und their kittens) in our little "convoy" of family cars...
Ted's sisters und IG's brother und sister who are based in what we call the big 'burb all folllow Ted up the M60/M62 where around Leeds we come across SPECS which have the sign "Camera NOT in Use" .. but this sign happen to be obliterated by other rectangle signs
und
everyone braked for the camera at low speed owing to Unwetter which we collectively thought created MORE und UNNECESSARY hazard on the road- a hazard which was created by thge drivers' over-reaction/Pavlovian reaction to speed camera ..
Und therein lie the real point for discussion 
.. but a Wildy post as typed by me .. purrrr! ....would not be such without the FUN! 
und confirm und cement in my mind what I believe to be the Pavlov
dog effect of
automatic hhit of brake pedal on seeing ANY scamera regardless of speed Our new bosom pals from Tucson comment on this und the fact that
our new bosom pals from our new home wrote:
Hells tits.. we thought you limeys were having us on over number of cameras over at yours! You sure have emough ..beats us why you have so many criminals here....

THEN .. just as we emerge from the miles of SPECS which were NOT IN USE und thus lulled into sense of false security .. we come across a couple of miles of live SPECS with no workmen in sight . (shortly before the M1 exit up North.. ) . und some of the cones had been removed to suggest "XMAS BREAK COMPLETELY"
(Not that anyone could drive above 50 mph as there was plenty of snow/ice/black ice und
every single driver on outward und reported by Jazz/Julia und their husbands on their return journeys seemed completely awares und were all driving PERFEKT 
In West Yorks (home of the officer who will do someone for "defective parts" when the car ist parked legally (incident recorded in press in November 2003) in resident's garaging bay) we noted a traf pol car trundling behind a car
with obviously defective lights NOT pulling nor even batting eyelid over a right dodgy overtaking move .. pulling out in front of a car in challenging conditions.,.
(But ... IG's supper of traditional comfort food hotpot was well worth the journey
) We stayed over as they close the direct route to ours wegen Unwetter. )
I feel better for that rant..
