Hold the front page! Since time immemorial there has been a warning on Codeine products, indeed on all opiates, that they may cause drowsiness and that one should not drive or use machinery if that occurs. Fortunately drowsiness when driving is almost invariably associated with a reduction in speed so it cannot be regarded as dangerous [/irony]
I think they put that sort of warning on pretty well anything inorder to protect themselves from legal crap.
Appart from preparations intended to make one drowsy (Which I have never found that effective) I have never really felt drowsy as a result of taking any over the counter/prescription medicine.
I have always regarded such warnings as some sort of catch-all ass-covering thing (Que comments on the dangers of corperate "Wolf Crying!" )
After all many of these "Side effect" warnings also include a list of the symptoms that one is trying to alleviate (You know, like anti-depressent meds listing suicide as a side effect. One shouldnt laugh since it is a serious buisness, but surely this is just a case of the drugs not working!)
Personally, I am much more interested in the link between road accidents and toxoplasmosis infection!
