Saw a distasteful display of 'speed kills' dogma in a nearby street today. Someone (possibly the council) has put up some fairly official looking signs in a nearby street.

The first reads: "Please observe the 30mph limit"
The second reads "Stay UNDER 30mph please"
The third reads "Thank you for saving a life"

Now this is just ridiculous. The tone is smarmy and patronising, and just serves to build disrespect. 30 is a reasonable max speed for that road as it is built up and has a few parked cars, and I really don't think these signs contribute anything.

The last sign really bothers me. How can they assume you definitely would have killed someone in the last 800 yards travelled if it wasn't for their signs? What if you DID just run somebody over at 28mph and kill them? What if you just reversed out of your driveway and killed someone?

Doesn't it give you a nice warm glow to see your council taxes put to such effective use?

Typical, I'm afraid, of the ignorant, patronising crap churned out by so many local councils and proponents of the brain-dead stupid 'speed kills' message.

Little wonder KSI numbers on the roads are on the rise, when this is the level of official understanding about accident causation, and they are allowed to propagate this garbage at taxpayers' expense. :loco:

sounds like a council trying to waste their left overs from their budget in order to be given the same budget the following year - or complete stupidity :o

Could'nt somebody put one underneath reading "Watch where you are going, instead of reading these silly bloody signs!" :?
