How, for the purpose of insurance quotations, can I find the history of my convictions? My new licence only covers the last three years and is clean but I am not sure of the previous two years which the insurers consider relevant.

Interesting question. You don't have your own records of events - no notes or copies of old licences etc ? Old insurance docs to show transactions (receipts etc), or bank accounts for payments to appropriate authorities ? Possibly contacting the DVLA and /or Police who must have some record, I would have thought ought to do it.
Failing that stating to the ins co that an older conviction might still be within the 4/5yr reference will then cover you for ins purposes, but I appreciate they will likely want details.

I think the expectation is that you should keep a record of convictions in the same way as you would be expected to with accidents and claims.

Have you had so many convictions that you've lost count? ;)

I still remember my one and only conviction from just over 30 years ago very clearly

I do not know about your insurance company, but mine shows all claims and convictions reported to them on each renewal.
I also keep that info.

Just two. But one of them was more than three years ago but possibly less than five.

On a related point, I have had a couple of windscreen repairs (not replacements) done on insurance. These have to be declared on, for example, Confused.com when searching for quotes but...

I can't remember the exact dates when I had the windscreen fixed. What should I do? Conveniently forget about these small claims?

I tend to remember the month of the claim and choose a day in the middle of the month as the claim date.

I might be in a minority Dave but I've got every bank statement going back to ~1977 when I went from wage packets to being forced to open a bank account they can use.

I know many people do the sensible thing by trashing them after a while, unlike me  but maybe it pays dividends after all.

Thanks for highlighting this btw. One never knows when one is going to need this info in these times sadly...

You will be branded a threat to society by going over a speed limit where it is safe to do so, and suffer the consequences of your actions in a way criminals do not, more so than someone who is a real threat to our society.

That's what I've done if I don't know exactly.

Which, technically, is withholding information and could render your policy invalid.
