Folks,

I was tootling through a local village the other day, when an elderly lady driver flashed her lights at me. I didn't think much of it, maybe a horse in the road up ahead? Well, 500 metres on and there was the mobile speed trap!!! I slowed from about 33mph to 28mph and slid by him.

Thank you to that public spirited person, and I will never complain about old lady drivers again.

What's not to like?

Alex.

You do realise she was just hanging her handbag on the light/indicator stalk....lol ;-)

so as usual based on the behaviour of one individual we're going to pre-judge a large portion of the general populace ... :loco:

graball,

:) Maybe. But that lady certainly reminded me to avoid rash generalisations.

I find generally in this centre of motoring lack of courtesy that the likelihood of a lady being courteous is far higher than for blokes. But equally likely that the most extreme nutters will be young ladies

In this part of the world, it is the opposite,

If you flash another motorist through a gap when it is not there right of way, 80% of male drivers will thank you, the number of female drivers that thank you is extremely low, to the extent that it is a shock to the system when one does....I often wonder if they actually realise that you have done them a favour sometimes though.

I often have to wait for a gap in the traffic to turn right out of my local road in the mornings, and I’d say in the vast majority of cases it’s a male driver who lets me out. Sometimes women carry on regardless and block the gap even if the traffic’s stationary. Many female drivers are not rude as such but just unobservant of what’s going on around them.

Seconded, Peter.

I remember many years ago, a young lady driver forcing her way up a narrow street in Bridgnorth by overtaking a very long line of parked cars on her left, even though there were gaps where she could have pulled in and she caused us all to brake and find pavements etc., so she could squeeze past, holding up myself and a long queue behind me, when she drew level with me , she obviously noticed the shaking of head and rolling of eyes, only to say, "I do have right of way, you know!"
