Not just phones

Using a mobile phone, eating, drinking and smoking were all shown to increase the risk of a crash, Brake claimed.

What next? Music, Conversations with passengers, garish advertising boards at the side of the road.

Oh that didn't work :? . We know a red flag :tumbleweed:

It would be nice to know the methodology behind the research.

Yes, the methodology is key. Be interesting to see if it's been "peer-reviewd" for a start! (Although I think that only seems to be a requirement when you're opposing further impositions on motorists  )! From what I remember, wasn't this based on a study where someone had to do a slalom course whilst also doing some taxing mental arithmetic over a hands-free? If so, that's just lousy research. Hell, if I was trying to do that just with someone next to me, never mind the phone call, I'd probably be worse at the slalom!

All those dials and flashing lights in front of the driver are far too distracting.

The entire "study" seems to be mainly from other countries, with heavy use of "virtual" driving and "models".
And there is the inevitable interjection from that well-know limited company ACPO.
Funny, no remarks from the IAM, or the AA.

56 years after it was decided it was needed, the Bedford Bypass is nearing completion. The last single carriageway length of it.We have the most photogenic mayor though, always being photographed doing nothing
