Caught out: Cricket star Andrew Flintoff fined for speeding on M60

Cricket legend and TV celebrity Andrew Flintoff has been fined for speeding on the M60 motorway.
The former England Test ace, who recently came out of retirement to sign a Twenty20 contract with Lancashire, was also slapped with three penalty points.
The 36-year-old, from Mottram, Cheshire, appeared at Manchester magistrates court today.
He pleaded guilty to a single charge of speeding.
All-rounder Flintoff’s car was caught by an average speed camera travelling at 58mph in a 50mph stretch of the M60 near Bredbury, Stockport.
The section of motorway becomes a 50mph area from 70mph and is monitored by speed cameras.

Flintoff, who was wearing a suit and tie and spoke in court only to confirm his personal details and enter his plea, was fined £400 with £85 court costs and a £40 victim surcharge.

His licence was endorsed with three penalty points.

Eddie Coyle, prosecuting on behalf of Greater Manchester Police, said Flintoff’s car, which was not identified, was caught by the camera at 3.48pm on January 27.
The court heard that the League of Their Own TV panellist already has two driving licence endorsements which amass to six penalty points.
The conviction today brings his points to nine - three away from a possible ban. The previous endorsements were for driving offences in August 2011 and June 2012.
Michael Neofytou, defending, handed up Flintoff’s driving licence to the bench of magistrates.
He said the conditions on the motorway were ‘clear and bright with light traffic’.
Mr Neofytou said former England captain Flintoff’s car was in ‘excellent condition’ and fully insured.
The court heard that his ‘take home pay’ was in excess of the maximum fine of £1,000.
The cricketing legend confirmed he was coming out of retirement four years after being forced to quit with a knee injury.
Flintoff has so far only turned out for a Lancashire second XI, but is continuing to push to be included in Lancashire’s NatWest T20 Blast side.
