Riding home from work tonight I saw that an accident had just occured at a GATSO camera site. The location was southbound on the Hitchin Road dual carriage way in Stevenage, right outside the John Henry Newman school, at about 4 o'clock. It looked like one car had run in the back of another, the damage was significant so I guess they were moving at or around the 40mph speed limit. The cars were positioned about 5 yards ahead of the last road marking for the camera. I intend to make some enquires on the causes of the accident - the camera might have had something to do with it, panic braking possibly, or it might not, in which case it was useless a piece of road furniture designed for collecting money
