I got 'caught' by scamera van in Cambridge on 25 August. I could argue that the road was clear with no traffic etc., but nonetheless when my Origin picked up laser it was reading 36mph in a 30 limit. Oh S***t :x

Clearly they are well out of time now and I have heard nothing. I must be leading a charmed life but I'm curious as to how this could have happened. :?:

I believe 35mph is the minimum speed you should be done at, although people on here have heard of lower. However I think Camera Operator has hinted that he only does drivers that are 'a bit above' the the minimum threshold so you were maybe still under.

Actual prosecution thresholds are set on a by partnership basis.

I've definitely heard of camera partnerships raising the prosecution threshold to manage the load on the system.

The ACPO guidelines state 10% + 2mph, ie...

30 limit = prosecution at or above 35mph
40 = 46
50 = 57
60 = 68
70 = 79

As Paul says some partnerships will set higher thresholds, perhaps if they're having a good month for revenue collection, but I don't think any of them would ever prosecute at lower ones.

You may have been lucky enough to have had a trafpol and not a civilian in the van.

Think Cambs is 10%+2 on fixed but have been slightly more tolerant on the vans - but have no idea as to how far - going off rumour from two relatives in that area. Then again also possible you were 34 mph on actual zap and you jumped on the signal and in doing so just may have made a slight foot movement and it don't take that much pressure to add 2 mph!

Higher than that on A14 by a few mph at least.

Was this on Hills Road, East Road, or up by Girton? Latter is a 40 limit, the transition of which from the 30 is quite hard to spot, and I don't know of anywhere else they put the van (inside Cambridge itself). Hills Road should be a 40, anyway. On the other hand, 36 down East Road: naughty boy!

I saw 2 recently burned-out Gatsos in Cambs yesterday, one on the A10 near Foxton and the other in Willingham. Excellent :lol:
