And, despite the DfT's espousal of how popular cameras are with the general public, the anti-camera posters are giving the pro-camera posters a serious bashing in terms of popularity.. :-)

Wonder if SS would like to post a link on the BBC forum to this one here? Looks like there is a serious number of motorists/road users who are vehemently opposed to cams...

Alan Gordon, Vice Chairman. Police Federation, (December issue of 'Police' Magazine) said,

Quote:
"The irresponsible siting of speed cameras for income generation has been a highly effective means of eroding public support for the police."

Hi Johno.

Quote:
It's unfortunate that it's the Police service, which is being blamed for this irresponsible behaviour rather than an unaccountable quango.

Thats nice to say so but really I don't think it's true, the NIPs are sent out with the sec 172 on behalf of the Chief Constable, we are party to what is going on, we are also proud(??!!) to call ourselves 'Partners' :?

I think that these "partnerships" are actualy governed by the police in all but name.

Just been watching BBC1 news, and a father who lost his daughter in a car accident has said it's right to move away from cameras as they don't catch all the other poor driving and have no flexibility or discretion.

What a brave man, who despite his tragic loss has avoided a knee-jerk reaction.
