Often wondered, but never asked...until now...sorry if it's a daft question:

Driving along a single-carriageway road, safe to go over NSL so you do so...can a police car going the other way clock your speed at all and "get" you?

I'd imagine not, but if they judged you to be exceeding the limit enough they could "pull a u-ey" and come after you / report to their chums to wait for you up ahead and zap you.

Just wondered if anyone had any experience of this.

In theory, 2 BiB in the car can "do you" on their opinion alone, they don't need any measuring device at all.

So, in theory they could just NIP you.

But it doesn't happen that way, if you were going fast enough to attract their attention they would come after you.

yep, had it happen to me a few years back. the Bib in question were waiting to turn right at traffic lights that i went through in the opposite direction. i had to stop at further traffic lights just down the road - they did a u turn and pulled me. I got a telling off rather than a ticket and drove slowly for some time after....

Yes, the BIB can get you as they come towards you, if the car is fitted with a VASCAR set thenthey an get you on what is called a head to head then turn around and continue with the check in the normal manner. They can also get you when you are behind them approaching you just change the settings around.
