Problem with this idea is that it does nothing to deal with twockers, instead it ensures that the cops'll hang back far enough for them to dump the car and make a clean escape on foot.

I like this idea more than I like the idea of constant GPS and ANPR monitoring of every vehicle in the country. It's cheaper, it doesn't bombard you with data and the civil liberties implications are negligible in comparison since if a chase has already started, you have already comitted the crime of failing to stop.

I forsee 1 inherant problem.

for it to work in the uk you need someone who can presumably shoot straight....at speed from a moving vehicle, safely, without endangering either himself or other road user or the public...

We are talking about the size of a hatton round/golfball being used in live traffic, wouldn't want to be hit by one accidently.

And who's going to be using these then????
