Hi - does anyone know if the yellow tripod mounted cameras that normally carry the blue flash cylinder thing take pics from front of behind?

There's one that parks regularly near me and by a mild bend so 9/10 times you have to either speed up to get round it or speed up coming towards it to get round other parked cars.

I recently approached one of these doing about 38 but I was approaching the camera so came face to face with it but no flash went off but just wondering how these tripod scameras actually work in principle?

If these are what I think they are then inside the box is the same kit as used in a fixed gatso unit, so they opperate in the same way.

So they almost certainly take pictures in rear facing mode. (They may well have been re type-approved to allow front facing opperation, but I believe they can only opperate in one direction at once)
