Just for a laugh, have a look at this letter published in the local rag.

Good for him!!

I had a similar problem with a letter to my business, saying I must have a TV Licence if I had a TV. I ignored it. Soon, another one arrived, saying if I had a TV at work, or a TV tuner card in my PC, I must have a license, or I could be fined. I ignored it.
Finally, ANOTHER letter arrived, saying if I did not have a TV at work, with a valid licence, I must write and tell them, or I would be detected and fined!

I FINALLY wrote and explained that even though THEY might get paid to work, but watched TV instead, any of my employees would be dismissed for such behaviour! Not only that, but I objected to being forced to spend time replying to their uninvited mail, and that if they had a detector van in the area, they had better get it round quick and issue me with a fine, and if I received any further letters to which I MUST reply to, I would invoice them for the time spent.
I have done the same with junk faxes - I sent them all an invoice for wasting my fax roll, now I only get one or two a year!

Either they have the technology, or it's BLUSTER!

I had a little rant about that ad to the wife some time ago.

Look at the "culprit" being targetted.........

Suit. Briefcase. Audi A4 in silver. Nice respectable detached house.

Does this strike you as the average "un-taxed" driver???????

No.

Nor me.

So, DVLA, stop insinuating that un-taxed drivers are usually respectable family men. I would suggest that the ad would be more realistic if it featured a 19yr old driving a chavved-up chicken-chaser Saxo with a 1000watt sub-woofer.................

Or am I being a little harsh on our chavvy lot??????

One of my mates recently upgraded his whole sound system, got a 1kW sub and all... I really don't see the point in his case - it's only going to increase the load on the alternator and therefore the engine ;)

I guess thinking about it I nearly have a reason for a good sound system... My mum is a principal in a school, and being able to bring the car out and use it as an amp would actually be useful, and would save me time in setting out wires for events in their fields...

We get the same sort of adverts on the mainland as I'm sure you all know.

What gets me is that one of the untaxed vehicles they show is a Sierra Cosworth parked in someone's back garden, now..

a) If it's in someone's back garden it doesn't need tax
b) All the chav-owned Cossies have all rotted away by now. The only ones left are owned by people who have the money to spend on the things, so they will be taxed.

I agree it should have been a Saxo, even the much maligned Nova doesn't have that many chav owners any more thanks to the rust issue.

I also agree that part of my road tax money has gone to pay for this crappy advert. Does anyone know how much the advertising campaign would have cost as I'd like my money back.

When I was a student living in halls we kept getting letters from the TV licence people. I would like to know how they would prove that I had a TV in my room (which I didn't BTW) when the room next door did. Its not like the inspectors would have got into the building past the serurity anyway.

Ditto, they turned up at my halls and were not allowed in.
