But why have they a bad attitude to start with? Is it because of the continuous 'beating down' by the authorities, scameras, artificial congestion etc., that has created or engendered this bad attitude? Personally, I think it has.
BB are you saying then that if there wasn't what you say 'beating down' techniques people would be driving positively, safely and courteously?
I expect he's suggesting that people drive
less positively,
less safely and
less courteously than they would if policy hadn't increased pressure, misdirected attention and 'dumbed down' the driving process.
That's what I believe, and I also believe that it's mega serious, with over 1,200 lives a year lost due to the effect.
That's exactly what I'm saying.
A few years ago, driving used to be a pleasure and a skill that someone could take pride in, but these days, with artificial congestion etc., I think drivers are losing respect for road rules as so many of them are not necessarily about road safety, but more about income generation.
I honestly think drivers are becoming almost anarchic, and I suspect it will get worse before it gets better.
Whilst I don't condone things like running red lights, I can certainly understand drivers doing it, especially where there is no need for them and they have only been introduced to frustrate drivers and help create artificial congestion.
