Hi all,
Last Friday night (c21:45) I was travelling northbound on the A1 and thought I had passed all the TruVelo cameras. I forgot the last one however (around Lincolnshire boarder(?)-its casing is a more lemon yellow than the other orangey ones) and estimate I was doing 85-90mph. There was a car following very closely behind so I couldn't emergency brake safely. So I'm just awaiting the NIP (the tailgater behind me was probably so close that he'll avoid one...).
Anyhow I rely on my job and already have three points. If I get 6 I will lose my job-it's a contractual agreement. Is there anything I can do? It's a company car and has my name but the leasing company's address I think on the logbook...
Any help very appreciated,
Yours,
Concerned driver

Two suggestions:

1) Visit http://www.pepipoo.com and make sure you understand the law and the way it is being applied.

2) If it looks as if you will be convicted, open a dialog with your employer suggesting that their policy may be outdated in view of modern speed enforcement policy. The fools in charge of enforcement have broken the links between conviction and safety risk, so the rules may no longer deliver any benefit.

Good luck.

If the car is in the name of the lease company, it may take more than 14 days for the NIP to arrive. You can't get out of it with the 14 day rule as they have it covered.

If you're lucky, they may offer youa conditional offer of 3 points and £60. If they offer you 6, of summons you (unlikely as you have to be exceeding 96mph in 70 limit to be summonsed) then it may be worth while seeking legal advice. A good lawyer/solicitor may be able to reduce the 6 to 3 points for you.

Don't worry too much untill you get your letter. I went through one of those at a similar speed a couple of years ago and never heard anything. 3 weeks ago I went though one a 10 mph over and have heard nothing.

I was driving, or should I saw crawling, though the Pitsea Flyover on Saturday and I could see that the generators for the cameras weren't even on. Their exhaust rain caps were closed, which means the engines were not running.

DA
The 14 day rule applies to getting the NIP to the registered keeper, not necesserely the driver. The keeper has 28 days to get it back with the drivers details so it could be a while before it arrives with the driver and it will still be valid.

It's a great situation because I'm sure we can all remember what we were doing a month and a half ago????
