Yesterday i noticed a biker was Locked up for 5 months for Speeding & being over the Drink Drive limit.

Which is fair enough.

However, Yorath was given a fine & community service for running over a pedestrian & being 3 times over the drink drive limit.

Is it now the case that speeding is seen more seriouse than running someone over.

probably. The way the laws work in this and other countries is very wrong. It just goes to show that loss of life is not taken seriously. You will probably find that Yorath was charged with careless driving which doesn't take into account the death of a person, just the damage caused.

He was convicted for driving a vehicle whilst under the influence of drink.

Which somehow excuses him for running over the pedestrian.

The only differances in the case:

The Biker was only over the limit, where as the Car driver was 3 times over.

The Biker was speeding

The car driver, ran someone over.

Go figure.....Why the biker got the tougher sentance. They both deserved tough sentance's for drinking whilst driving.

Agree, both deserve tough sentences.

I suppose it all boils down to what happens in court on the day.

What disposition did the judge have?
Did either defendant show remorse?
Was either a repeat offender?

Feelings and emotions always play a part in these cases, the question is should they? Or should there be a black/white mandatory course of action for the judge i.e.

Defendant did this whilst that....sentence = the other. No arguments.
