Well apparently so, at least according to New South Wales Road Traffic Authority:

"The risk of a crash at 68 km/h in a 60 km/h zone is the same as driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08. The risk at 72 km/h in a 60 km/h zone is the same as driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.12 - more than double the general legal limit."

Maybe this means that driving with a blood alcohol level of 0.08 or 0.12 is not as dangerous as the authorities have claimed ?

Exploring the website further, you can also lose your licence if you and your front passenger are not wearing a seatbelt............

................BUT only if the offence is commited on a bank holiday!

(check it out if you don't believe me)

NSW Police have formed a Junta - effectively they are the law, judiciary, jury and Lord High Executioner. A mate of mine that regularly has to drive through NSW describes it as 'being as much of a pleasure as having chilli seeds inserted under your foreskin' (how graphic are Oz similes?).
You can be 'done' for whatever the copper thinks fit - if you pull away from rest with too many revs, you are 'hooning' and if you pull away too slowly, you are 'baulking traffic'.

Absolute bloody madness, but watch this space...
