On here are many reasoned arguements about road safety. The arguments are made by, professionals, police officers , advanced drivers and people generally interested in driving.

But do people listen? I heard Paul make his speech on 5Live then Ladyman came on and said that Safespeed was a group of anarchists. Libelous?

Do the people that make the policies actually listen to groups of people like Safespeed or is it better for policy makers to react to relatives of victims?

It seems to my cynical eyes that the objective of government is to extract as much money as possible out of road users as possible, using congestion, the environment and any possible threat to safety as leverage to pry more money and inconvienience from us.

It isn't just road users, they are having a pretty good go at householders, students and anyone else they can think of too!
